Job Description

As an Audit Director leading the Audit Quality Unit, you will be a key player in driving audit quality initiatives across the firm. Reporting to the Head of Audit Quality and working closely with Risk Management, Audit Executive Team and having external interactions with the key stakeholders (IRE, CAA and CSSF) in Luxembourg. You will help shape and implement quality-focused strategies in line with both local and global priorities.

You will lead and mentor a team of three full-time managers, providing both technical guidance and soft skills coaching to support their daily activities, while actively fostering their professional growth and development within the firm.

This role is central to helping audit teams to comply with internal policies, auditing standards, and regulatory expectations-ultimately reinforcing stakeholder trust and audit integrity.

What you will be working on

The Audit Director leading the Audit Quality Unit typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include the overview and execution of :

Audit Quality Strategy

  • Lead the execution of the firm's audit quality strategy and contribute to its continuous evolution
  • Sponsor the various workstreams implementing Audit Transformation

Audit Engagement Support

  • Provide direct coaching and technical support to audit teams on complex auditing matters
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for high-risk engagements performed by KPMG Luxembourg
  • Internal & External Inspections

  • Coordinate the Firm's lines of defenses, quality programs, internal and external inspection process to identify audit performance matters and the root cause analysis process to drive audit quality improvement objectives
  • Maintain key relationships with the CSSF, IRE, CAA, and KPMG Network for audit quality and for the System of Quality Management (SoQM)
  • Training & Awareness

  • Design and deliver targeted training on audit quality and risk assessment
  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the audit function
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally by being involved in firm-wide projects with Operational Excellence team, DPP (Department of Professional Practice), Risk Management, EMA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region) and Global Audit Quality Leadership but not only
  • Represent the Firm in quality-focused global or regional working groups
  • What we look for

  • You obtained a master's degree in business administration with a major in Audit and Accounting,
  • You are qualified as a "Reviseur d'Entreprises" or very much advanced in the process of obtaining a "Reviseur d'Entreprises" qualification in Luxembourg
  • You gained professional experience of 10-12 years in external audit, ideally in a big 4 environment
  • Besides your technical skills, you are client-focused and team-driven, you display a strong client centricity, people leadership, are a very curious and agile person, eager to meet new challenges and to evolve on the path of lifelong learning
  • You possess excellent communication skills in English and French (B2 to C1)
  • You have a positive and enthusiastic attitude and are able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • You have leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
  • You possess an innovative mindset and are eager to introduce technological solutions that transform and enhance the audit delivery process.
  • Skills Required

    Audit Quality :

  • Have significant knowledge of auditing standards and audit law and regulation
  • Maintain the highest level of compliance with auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and the firm's quality guidelines
  • Continuously monitor and enhance audit processes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency
  • Promote a Culture of Excellence
  • Foster a commitment to quality within your team
  • Leadership :

  • Be able to interact with Audit Service Line Leaders and the Audit Executive Team
  • Motivate your team and encourage them to work together to achieve goals
  • Oversee the work of 3 full-time managers
  • Use leadership skills to help your team develop and grow professionally
  • Communication Skills :

  • Communicate with internal clients, employees and other stakeholders from the Luxembourg market
  • Provide presentations and have the ability to speak in front of a wide audience and / or partners' audience
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Problem Solving :

  • Identify and address issues
  • Oversee a team of professionals and provide guidance on how to address challenges
  • Find solutions to technical problems

This role offers direct exposure to the Audit Executive Team, including the audit partners' group, the Audit Oversight Committee, and both EMA and Global Audit Quality Leadership teams. You will engage in high-impact quality and risk discussions, often involving the Firm's most complex and high-profile client engagements, while further building your influence beyond the Firm through regulatory and professional networks. You will also lead and develop a dedicated team of three full-time managers.
