Job role : Port Operative(s) (Yard)

Location : Killingholme

Ports Killingholme are recruiting for Port Operative(s), to meet the demands of a busy and expanding Ro-Ro shipping terminal.

Reporting to the Yard Operations Supervisors, the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and have a flexible and pro-active approach to work.

With the main duty of the role being to drive / operate heavy plant and machinery, to load and unload third- party transport, it is important that you have knowledge of Port Operations along with experience of driving large vehicles and operating heavy plant and machinery.

Being trained to operate Reachstackers would be advantageous though training will be provided. Experience in operating Tugmasters, Translifters, Fork Lifts, and Shovels will also be advantageous.

You will also be required to undertake other duties, including pinning.

It is essential you have a pro-active approach and knowledge of Health and Safety requirements. You must also have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Good IT skills are desirable for use of in-house / on-board Freight Management Systems. You must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise workload whilst working to tight timescales in accordance with company policies, procedures and standards.

The ability to work within a team is a prerequisite. A flexible approach to work is necessary as you will be expected to cover when required, undertaking any duties that may arise to contribute to the day-to-day running of the terminal.

You must also be willing to work to a flexible timetable to meet the changing patterns of work, which could include working at other Ports within the UK and Europe.
