Senior ( Lead ) Satellite and Space Systems Engineer (m / f / o) – Space Industry Luxembourg
For small satellites systems engineering, LuxSpace is recruiting a Senior ( Lead ) Systems Engineer with 5+ years of working experience who is ready to take a leading system engineering role assigned to him / her on project level through Phase C / D on LuxSpace’s projects.
A Senior ( Lead ) Systems Engineer is required to technically manage, coordinate, and contribute to the design of our next generation small satellites. The incumbent’s knowledge of space systems, subsystems and equipment shall be applied for definition, coordination and implementation of all relevant tasks leading to the successful development of the LuxSpace small satellite product line. On project level, the incumbent shall be ready to take over the role of lead system engineer.
Typical Tasks include :
- Technical Lead and Management of system engineering activities of a Small-SAT project, particularly through Phase C and D
- Manage satellite internal interfaces, focusing on mechanical and / or electrical.
- Manage satellite external interfaces (payload, launcher) towards potential customers
- Manage requirements for, and support verification of satellite's mechanical, thermal, electrical, avionics, and / or AOCS subsystems
- Manage, support, and execute verification of the integrated system, especially functional testing
- Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities
- Provide technical management of the project, supporting the project manager to execute the technical scope of work
- Participate in and contribute to the development and qualification of a challenging Small-SAT in a medium-sized technical team
- Define mission and system requirements for optical Earth-observing mission.
- Support preparation of proposals to potential customers
- Define and manage requirements for, and support verification of satellite's mechanical, thermal, electrical, avionics, and / or AOCS subsystems.
- Perform satellite functional analysis and design trade-offs.
- Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
- Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Profile :
University degree (Bachelor / Master / Diploma / PhD) or equivalent education plus relevant proven work experienceExperience in systems engineering (5y+), gained in a professional position, preferably in the space industry with focus on small satellitesStrong knowledge of and proven experience in systems engineering, including requirements engineering, functional analysis, verification controlStrong knowledge of and proven experience in space mission and satellite engineering, including orbital dynamics, space environment, space operations and satellite testingExperience in technical execution of Phase C / D projectsExperience in satellite and / or sub-system requirements engineeringExperience in technical management of sub-systemsExperience in satellite verification, including hands-on testingKnowledge of DOORS (or similar), STK (or similar), UML / SysMLKnowledge of SCOS (or similar) and TCL scriptingExperience with Earth-observing optical missions is considered an assetExperience with space radiation environment and radiation's impact on satellite design and verification is considered a strong assetExperience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset : mechanical and thermal, electrical and power, AOCS, micro-vibrationExcellent sense of responsibilityStructured hands-on work-approachHighly self-motivated and able to work autonomouslyExcellent problem-solving skillsGood interpersonal skillsCustomer-oriented thinking approachPositive spirit to work and interface with a multinational teamReadiness to work flexible where necessary in line with project needs and schedulesWillingness to travel for business and to be part of a collocated team for a limited time (e.g. at test facility)Languages : Good English skills (spoken and written) is a mustIn line with applicable (immigration) legislation, all candidates must be eligible to live and work in Luxembourg / be an EU / EEA citizen and possess all applicable work and residence permissions for Luxembourg.Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from the applicants as part of the recruitment processIn view of the nature of projects concerned and job profile, candidates may have to undergo stringent reference and identity checksAdditional Information
