  • Enables EV charging infrastructure implementation through electrical design definition and review
  • Develops grid infrastructure standards spanning high-voltage up to 24 kV (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, ensuring a coordinated and resilient approach to grid design
  • Explores emerging technologies to address evolving sustainability needs, with emphasis on smart grid integration, efficiency, and resilience
  • Drives end-to-end deployment of EV chargers and other sustainability technologies across European sites
  • Defines processes for procurement and maintenance of electrical and sustainability infrastructure
  • Owns cost budgeting, forecasting, and tracking across sustainability programmes
Possible locations for this role: Luxembourg, London, Munich, Milan, Madrid, and Barcelona Amazon is committed to building a sustainable future for our customers, local communities, and the planet. Under The Climate Pledge, we committed to achieving net-zero carbon across our business by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To get there, we need driven people who are dedicated to making a meaningful impact through sustainable energy technologies and scalable infrastructure design. Key job responsibilities
  • Own and develop electrical equipment standards, including standard designs for core electrical infrastructure in partnership with manufacturers and internal stakeholders
  • Perform design validation and review to ensure compliance with established electrical standards during installation and commissioning of infrastructure
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for LV and HV (up to 24kV) electrical systems
  • Align stakeholder expectations and define technical requirements for EV charging network infrastructure and smart grid deployments
  • Drive the technology roadmap for electrical infrastructure, including EV chargers, substations, energy efficiency solutions, and IoT technologies (e.g. smart metres)
  • Develop business cases and present recommendations to leadership to secure approval for programme scoping and investment decisions
  • Coordinate with programme managers to ensure quality and standards compliance across large-scale installations
  • Drive process improvement across commissioning, audit, value engineering, and cost control activities
A day in the life Your day could include engagement with all levels of the organisation and multiple stakeholder groups to drive short-, mid-, and long-term technical decisions with large-scale impact across the Amazon network. You will also work with partners from Operations, Reliability & Maintenance, Health and Safety, Global Fleet Product, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to design and deploy electrical infrastructure across Amazon’s operational sites in Europe. About the team The Sustainability Engineering team drives the execution and deployment of EV charging infrastructure, grid connections, and smart grid solutions across Amazon’s European sites. We manage supply chain, procurement, and maintenance activities, and define the processes that ensure consistent, scalable delivery. To enable this, the team develops and continuously improves electrical standards and technologies that underpin reliable, compliant deployment at pace. We power Amazon’s sustainable growth through operational excellence and continuous innovation.
  • Experience with technical writing, or experience developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with experience in electrical infrastructure design, standards development, or large-scale electrical systems implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HV and/or LV electrical distribution systems (up to 24kV) and applicable standards
  • Experience in technical program and product management, technical development or related roles in the industrial EV charging solutions sector
  • Proficiency in one or more European languages (in addition to English)
  • Experience working with public grid operators or Distribution System Operators (DSOs)
  • Working knowledge of national grid codes and DSO requirements in one or more EU/UK markets
  • Experience with protection coordination, fault level analysis, or power systems modelling
  • Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration
