Description
Permanent contract | Belval Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us
You will join the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) Unit, developing knowledge, methods, transferable software, for the simulation and comprehensive sustainability assessment of socio-economic systems. The unit’s purpose is to foster sustainable eco-innovation, through products and technologies, support sustainability-oriented policy implementation and encourage behavioural changes to promote decarbonisation transitions.
Within the SUSTAIN Unit, a Senior Research and Technology Scientist position is available in the Sustainable Urban and Built Environment (SUBE) research group. The SUBE group addresses the entire life cycle of built assets, including architecture, engineering, construction, and operations, as well as urban environments through urban planning and management. Our activities focus on formulating, developing, and deploying data-driven methods and tools to support the construction sector's transition towards low-carbon and sustainable built environments, encompassing districts and cities. We place a strong emphasis on the digitalization of processes and information flows, including the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geospatial systems and Digital Twins, to advance technological implementations, contribute to upskilling the workforce and support market growth.
How will you contribute?
You will work closely with our multidisciplinary research teams, including experts in architecture, engineering and construction, environmental scientists, computer scientists and geospatial experts. You will be involved in several Horizon Europe funded research and innovation projects, carried out by LIST and its European partners.
In particular, You will contribute at the definition and implementation of methodologies and decision-support tools for the assessment of energy performance of built assets (building or neighbourhood level), smart building technical systems and circularity of resources over the life cycle of built assets, based on BIM, digital twins and other static or dynamic datasets.
You will also contribute to the development of the unit’s technological assets, which are mainly information systems and involve the handling and use of Building Information Models and City Models in Geographical Information Systems.
As a researcher in the team, You will be mainly involved in tasks associated with the formulation of requirements, the development of the methodologies as well as the design and prototyping of the subsequent digital systems. Moreover, she / he will actively contribute to deploy the systems in real or simulated environments, monitoring the experiments and validating the approach.
You will also actively contribute to the scientific dissemination of the projects results as well as the outreach activities to be organised in Luxembourg and abroad.
