The Application Hosting Engineer (OpenShift Specialist) is responsible for the design, administration and operation of the containerized application hosting platforms based on Red Hat OpenShift .
He / she ensures the availability, performance and security of hosted applications and underlying infrastructure, collaborating closely with middleware, database and DevOps teams.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Operation
Maintain, operate and optimize Red Hat OpenShift clusters (on-premises).
Manage worker and control nodes, namespaces, projects and resource quotas.
Apply patches, upgrades and security fixes to OpenShift and its components.
Implement monitoring, alerting and capacity management of container platforms.
Integration & Automation
Develop and maintain CI / CD pipelines (Ansible, ArgoCD).
Automate operational processes using Ansible , Python or Shell scripting .
Security & Compliance
Implement and maintain security policies, RBAC and compliance baselines.
Support vulnerability assessments, container image scanning and secrets management.
Contribute to documentation required for audits, DRP (Disaster Recovery Plan)
Collaboration & Support
Act as Level 3 escalation point for hosting-related incidents and changes.
Cooperate with middleware, network and storage teams during troubleshooting.
Participate in on-call rotations for production support (24 / 7 basis).
Continual Service Improvement
Propose enhancements to increase reliability, scalability and automation.
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
Expertise in Red Hat OpenShift (v4.x) and Kubernetes architecture.
Experience with Linux administration (RHEL or CentOS).
Knowledge of containerization, pod networking, operators and storage classes.
Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines, GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
Strong understanding of networking, load balancing, certificates (SSL / TLS).
Experience with monitoring & logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Ansible).

Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
