Job description
Responsabilities :
Participate in the daily management of the diagnostic samples and requests for testing (medical prescriptions);
Set up and manage the handling of samples, including reception, registration and dispatching to internal laboratory units or external facilities;
Review received samples and test requests, identifying the requested test(s) and assessing their medical relevance in collaboration with the referring medical doctor;
Select the appropriate subcontracting laboratory and coordinate testing procedures in a pre- and postnatal context;
Supervise sample shipments, ensuring proper handling and compliance with regulations;
Monitor and follow up on urgent / prenatal shipments to ensure timely processing;
Manage non-conformities and complains related to samples and requests;
Manage results of subcontracted tests, including reception, verification, communication to prescribers and billing;
Address and resolve requests from prescribers and maintain effective communication;
Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dispatching and subcontracting workflows;
Oversee the accreditation of processes, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations;
Train and supervise the technicians involved in these processes.
Profile :
PhD degree in Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Laboratory Technology, or a related field;
Minimum of 6 years of experience in genetic diagnostics and / or molecular biology in a diagnostic setting;
Keen interest for human genetics and / or cancer genomics;
Ideally extensive experience in handling of laboratory specimens, logistics, and the organization of efficient subcontracting processes;
Familiarity with accreditation and compliance requirements, including ISO15189 quality management;
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and bioinformatics tools is an asset;
Willingness to take on responsibility and drive process improvements;
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills;
Strong communication and teamwork abilities;
Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent tasks efficiently;
A team player with a strong sense of urgency while maintaining a positive and supportive work environment;
Mandatory fluency (spoken and written) in English and either French or German. Luxemburgish will be considered as an asset.
