The Market Analyst monitors and analyses global mining and steel markets, commodity pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to support ArcelorMittal’s strategic planning and marketing decisions. The role delivers actionable insights to internal stakeholders, identifies trends and risks, and contributes to forecasting, business development, and portfolio optimization.
Key responsibilities
- Market Intelligence – Collect, analyze, and interpret market data to provide actionable insights for decision-making.
- Commodity Analysis – Monitor iron ore, coal, and other relevant commodity markets, tracking pricing, demand, and supply trends.
- Forecasting – Develop short- and long-term market forecasts to support planning and strategy.
- Reporting & Dashboards – Prepare regular reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and business units.
- Competitive Analysis – Monitor competitors’ activities, market positioning, and pricing strategies.
- Scenario Planning – Evaluate market risks and opportunities under different economic and geopolitical scenarios.
- Stakeholder Support – Provide analytical support to sales, technical marketing, shipping / operational, and back office teams.
- Continuous Improvement – Enhance analytical tools, processes, and methodologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & leadership profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in market analysis, commodity markets, or strategic planning in mining, metals, or related sectorsStrong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or other analytical toolsKnowledge of mining and steel markets, including global trends and pricing dynamicsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environmentFluent in English; additional languages an advantageThe ideal candidate is a curious and analytical professional with a passion for understanding global markets.
