Amazon’s STEP (Supply Chain, Trans Planning & Ops Excellence) team is looking for an enthusiastic and customer obsessed Software Development Manager to help us drive changes and support in optimizing our transportation network. The role will involve understanding the physical and virtual transportation processes, from our fulfillment centers on to our final mile carriers who deliver our packages to our customers. As part of the Transportation Network Configuration (TNC) team you will combine business process knowledge, technical expertise, and software development skills to identify and drive product developments within our transportation network. To be successful in the role, you need strong team management, communication and technical skills, alongside with the ability to manage stakeholders’ expectations and drive planning activities for tech teams. You will work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment that requires you to be detail-oriented and comfortable in working with multiple business and technical teams. Key job responsibilities
Our team owns the charter to make the transportation network configurations more scalable, on a journey to reach hands-off-the-wheel state for all transportation network changes. We build solutions that solve complex business problems and enable strong business impact through large network transformations. We drive several initiatives such as automations, validations and audits while partnering with Amazon’s global technology partners to transform our business.

We are looking for a seasoned Software Development Manager who is an accomplished engineering leader and is passionate to lead teams that design and build large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software solutions. The ideal candidate will have excellent people management skills, business sense, and rich experience leading the build of extensible and scalable solutions using AWS technologies to solve complex business features. If you like owning challenging and critical business goals that clearly impacts Amazon's business, and deliver them by leading a team of talented engineers, then this is the place for you.


About the team
TNC SCALE is a team with Transportation Network Configuration, delivering innovative solutions to ensure long-term scalability of the EU network configuration. The team is composed of SDEs, PMs, BIEs and Data Engineers who work together and cross-team to automate, simplify, standardize and audit configuration of transportation and sortation data.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience in engineering team management
- Experience in engineering
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead, or experience leading and influencing your team or organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience managing teams, or experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU or other AI acceleration hardware
