Our client, a renowned global player, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their dynamic team in the Ettelbruck area, North Luxembourg. With a footprint in more than 20 countries and a strong commitment to innovation and excellence, they offer an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to large-scale payroll operations and international HR processes.

This is a 6-month full-time assignment to cover a parental leave. Whether you're an experienced payroll professional or a highly motivated junior profile with outstanding IT and Excel skills, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a leading international organization.

👤 Your Profile

🔎 Who we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experienced candidates with payroll expertise are welcome, but motivated junior candidates will also be considered, provided they demonstrate excellent IT aptitude and particularly strong Excel skills.
  • Fluency in English and French is required. Luxembourgish and/or German would be a strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Comfortable working with figures, administrative processes, and HR systems.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn.

💻 Excel & IT Skills (Highly Important)

Strong Excel proficiency is a key success factor for this role.

Essential

  • Basic formulae (SUM, AVERAGE, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
  • Basic formatting: moving, deleting and inserting rows/columns, adjusting column widths and row heights, changing cell formats (General, Text, Number, etc.)
  • Create, copy and delete worksheets/tabs
  • Create Pivot Tables
  • Find & Replace

Considered a Strong Asset

  • Intermediate formulae (SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, IF, IFERROR)
  • Intermediate Excel features including:
    • Text to Columns
    • Conditional Formatting
    • Freeze Panes

Candidates with exceptional Excel capabilities and strong digital aptitude will be highly valued, even if they have limited professional payroll experience.

📝 Your Main Responsibilities

As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be a key member of the Luxembourg Payroll team. Your responsibilities will include:

🔹 Payroll Execution

  • Manage the monthly payroll process in close collaboration with an external payroll provider.
  • Review gross-to-net calculations, ensure payroll accuracy and compliance, and follow up on administrative tasks.
  • Prepare payroll-related accounting entries and support monthly closings.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.

🔹 Vendor & Internal Communication

  • Coordinate with the external payroll provider and monitor service quality.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll-related questions (pay slips, tax certificates, etc.).
  • Liaise daily with the HR Shared Service Center and internal stakeholders.

🔹 Benefits & Time Management

  • Administer time & attendance systems.
  • Support the administration of employee benefits.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on payroll, reporting, compensation, and benefits-related topics.

🔹 Compliance & Projects

  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation, taxation, and social security regulations.
  • Participate in payroll and HR system improvement projects, including new system implementations.
  • Act as a trusted resource on payroll, benefits, and salary taxation matters.
