The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. Your role

We seek a highly motivated software developer to join a FNR JUMP-funded project translating a validated suite of bioinformatics software tools into CausalOmics, an integrated software platform for causal analysis of omics data. The platform identifies root causal genes and candidate drug targets from multi-omics datasets.

The candidate will contribute to the further development of the unified, point-and-click user interface, implement interactive visualization frameworks for complex biological networks, and develop the core platform architecture that connects the analysis modules, spanning preprocessing, network and pathway analysis, causal reasoning, drug target assessment, and machine learning, through robust APIs.

Further responsibilities include setting up the cloud deployment infrastructure (SaaS architecture, REST API) and ensuring the platform is scalable, reproducible, and accessible to users without coding or bioinformatics expertise. The role is closely linked to the CausalOmics go-to-market project, and the candidate will work directly with the project's principal investigator and its interdisciplinary bioinformatics and business development team.

This position is offered with the explicit intent that the successful candidate may take on the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Lead Developer of the planned CausalOmics spin-off company after incorporation.

Your profile

• A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field: MSc or equivalent; PhD an advantage
• Proven experience in full-stack web development, including front-end frameworks and back-end/API design
• Experience with interactive data visualization and building user-friendly, no-code interfaces for complex analytical workflows
• Familiarity with cloud deployment (SaaS architectures, REST APIs, CI/CD) is highly advantageous
• An interest in, or prior exposure to, bioinformatics or biomedical data is a plus but not required
• Strong software architecture and code quality skills, including experience with scalable, modular system design
• Cross-disciplinary aptitude, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and interest in a translational, commercially oriented research environment
• Excellent command in English
