On the 1st of October 2018, JAO became the Single Allocation Platform (SAP) for all European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) that operate in accordance with EU legislation, since it is able to implement and fulfill all regulatory obligations and requirements. We provide accounting (clearing and settlement), contracting, reporting and project support services.
About the job
We are looking for an autonomous and hands-on Cloud Engineer to help drive the modernization of our infrastructure as we move business-critical workloads from on-premises into Azure. Under the responsibility of the Head of Service Support and IT Supervisor and directly supervised by the Cloud Infrastructure Team Leader, you will design, build, and continuously improve secure, compliant, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions using Terraform and / or other Infrastructure-as-Code practices. You will work with the team and external providers to refine our Azure landing zones, implement reusable IaC modules, and enforce policy, compliance, and security guardrails from the ground up. In this role, you will engineer and optimize CI / CD workflows for infrastructure delivery, enhance observability across our platforms, and contribute to developing robust multi-cloud patterns that support our business continuity goals. This position is suited to someone who is comfortable in regulated environments, brings strong Azure and Terraform experience, works well in a team, and is ready to influence how cloud is done across the organization.
Key activities in the position :
Proactively contribute and take initiative in the modernization of workloads from on-premises to Azure-based cloud environments
Design, build, and continuously improve application landing zone services using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code practices, ensuring policy, compliance, and security guardrails are enforced
Implement reusable, maintainable IaC (Infrastructure-As-Code) modules and develop baseline policies that align with company standards and regulatory requirements
Contribute to the development of multi-cloud patterns supporting business continuity goals
Engineer and optimise CI / CD workflows using our existing Toolchain for infrastructure delivery
Define and continously improve observability across our platform
Collaborate with external providers
Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation : architectural diagrams, standards, runbooks, and key technical decisions, especially where interaction with provider-managed platform occurs
Identify, develop, and advocate for continuous improvement initiatives, tooling enhancements, and opportunities for increased automation
Provide backup support within the department to maintain continuity during absences
Execute any ad-hoc tasks linked to the role
We are looking for someone with the following skills set :
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience
Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, any other language will be an advantage
Certifications : Azure AZ-900 and AZ-104 preferred; other Azure or Terraform certifications an advantage
5+ years hands-on in cloud / platform engineering (Azure focus)
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform at scale; CI / CD with GitHub, GitLab, or TeamCity
Exposure to Azure governance structures, networking (VNets, private endpoints), and cloud security best practices
Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC2, DORA)
Proficiency in at least one major scripting / development language (Python, PowerShell, Java etc.)
Familiarity with FinOps (cost management, tagging, allocation alerts) and CSPM tools
Multi-tenant Azure environment management
IaC best practices : idempotency, testing, drift management, and policy as code
DevSecOps integration across pipelines, secrets, and identity patterns
Baseline knowledge of Container and Orchestrator concepts advantageous
Version control with Git; trunk-based or similar workflows
Security frameworks awareness (OWASP, CIS benchmarks) beneficial
Able to execute tasks under strict deadlines

We offer
Salary paid on 13 months basis.
