We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join our Central Administration – Fund Accounting team in Luxembourg. In this on-site role, you will oversee the accounting and administration for a portfolio of alternative investment funds – including private equity, venture capital, real estate, and debt funds – ensuring accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and high-quality financial reporting. You will take a hands-on approach to managing daily fund operations and support team of 2–3 accountants, providing mentorship and fostering a supportive, high-performance team. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of relevant fund accounting experience, is proficient in using eFront fund accounting software, and demonstrates strong leadership, problem-solving, and initiative in a fast-paced environment where team spirit and professional development are at the heart of the culture. Key Responsibilities
- Fund Accounting & NAV Calculation : Manage all aspects of day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of alternative investment funds, including maintaining general ledgers, performing bank reconciliations, and calculating periodic NAVs with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capital Calls and Distributions : Coordinate and process fund operations such as capital calls, distributions, and investor allocation transactions, ensuring these are executed accurately and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
- Financial Reporting : Prepare and review periodic financial statements, investor reports, and annual accounts for each fund, ensuring compliance with Lux GAAP or applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Audit Support : Serve as a key contact during audits and year-end reviews, providing auditors with required documentation and timely responses to queries to facilitate a smooth audit process
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Liaise professionally with internal and external parties – including clients, auditors, custodians, and legal / compliance advisors – to coordinate deliverables and address any issues related to the funds.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure regulatory compliance for the funds by assisting with regulatory filings and tax obligations as needed (e.g. preparation of VAT returns or other statutory reports)
- Systems Management (eFront) : Leverage the fund accounting software (eront) to its full capacity, configuring fund-specific settings and reports to reflect each fund's structure and ensuring data integrity and efficiency in all processes
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor a small team of fund accountants (2–3 people), reviewing their work for accuracy, providing training and guidance, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team environment
- Financial Analysis : Conduct financial analyses and projections to assess fund performance and support strategic decision-making for clients and senior management. Requirements
- Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting for alternative investment funds (e.g. private equity, venture capital, real estate, or debt funds). A track record handling fund accounting and NAV calculations for complex fund structures is essential.
- Accounting Knowledge : In-depth understanding of fund accounting principles and practices, with solid knowledge of Luxembourg GAAP; familiarity with IFRS and other reporting standards (IFRS knowledge is a plus)
- Paxus Proficiency : Hands-on experience with PFS-Paxus fund accounting software is required, including the ability to configure fund-specific parameters in the system to meet reporting and operational needs
- Leadership Skills : Proven ability to lead and mentor junior staff. Prior experience supervising a small accounting team or acting as a senior team member is highly valued (you will lead a team of 2–3 accountants)
- Analytical & Solution-Oriented Mindset : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to overcoming challenges. The role requires a hands-on attitude and the ability to take initiative when addressing complex issues.
- Organizational Skills : Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple funds' deliverables and meeting tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Communication : Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients and to clearly communicate financial information. A client-focused, professional demeanor is expected.
- Language : Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in French or other European languages is a strong asset in our multilingual environment. Preferred Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent experience in fund accounting)
- Professional Certification : Holding or pursuing a professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA or equivalent is an advantage (though not mandatory)
- Industry Background : Experience in the Luxembourg fund administration sector is a plus. We welcome candidates from both boutique fund administration firms and large institutional environments, as diverse experience is valued.
- Technical Skills : Advanced MS Excel skills and familiarity with other accounting or portfolio management systems (e.g., BOB 50, Investran) are beneficial
