The Communication Officer is a member of the Marketing & Communication team. She / he provides communication expertise to enhance the visibility and reputation of LIH across a wide range of international / local audiences. She / he has responsibility for performing education and public outreach activities to generate visibility, raise awareness, build the brand reputation and promote the goals and activities of the institute. She / he also is responsible for internal communication and the organisation of events targeting a variety of audiences (scientific congresses, public outreach events, fundraising events). She / he works directly with external partners, internal clients and act as point of contact for LIH designated suppliers. She / he also provides day-to-day support to the Marketing & Communication department's activities and participates in internal / external communication projects and events. Key Accountabilities Education and public outreach Communication Contribute to the development of the education and communication outreach strategy and plan to educate, inform and engage key stakeholders, donors and communities; Support researchers with the recruitment of donor and participant in research studies and cohorts by developing and implementing communication plans; Leverage milestones and increase awareness of LIH's activities and its research programmes within various non-scientific communities by developing educational and communication outreach campaigns, events, materials and tools : content production, copy writing and translation of news, press releases, brochures, newsletters, etc.; Organise and / or coordinate the organisation of public outreach events (Science Festival, World Days, etc.) and social events Internal Communication Contribute to the development and implementation of the internal communication strategy and plan in conjunction with senior managers to reinforce the corporate culture and business strategy; Ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders; Plan, edit, write and distribute internal communications via the relevant internal channels (e.g. newsletter, digital screens, intranet, emails, visual presentations, videos); Manage and contribute to the development of the intranet and its content, proofing, editing and posting articles; Federate staff around the LIH brand and build a sense of community by developing and implementing a social event programme and organizing internal corporate events (Summer Party, Christmas Party). Other accountabilities Contribute to the development of LIH's marketing & communication strategy and plan; Contribute to the development and implementation of the editorial programme to leverage milestones and achievements, and increase awareness of LIH's activities; Support the media outreach programme by generating press materials, monitoring media coverage, producing press reviews and maintaining press documentation and resources up to date; Advise researchers and help recruit event organisation suppliers for the organisation of scientific conferences; Help define, develop and prepare marketing messages and content for material to promote LIH activities and services; Establish and maintain excellent cooperative relationships with all key stakeholders; Provide assistance as required in preparing internal documents, reports and communications. Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Communication / Journalism / Marketing with demonstrated experience ideally in a medical / scientific context or Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences with skill / knowledge of medical / scientific journalism and communication; Two years copywriting experience, ideally within a medical / research institution, a communication agency, a scientific medium or a medical publishing environment; Personal interest in the sector of scientific research and in biomedicine; Experience in public relations, internal communication and event management; Fluent in English with excellent copywriting skills, ability to use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling editing, formatting, and proofreading skills to clearly and concisely provide accurate information; Good knowledge of French and / or German and / or Luxembourgish would be an asset; Good knowledge of computer office (Microsoft Office) and Web applications (e.g. CMS, social media); Adaptable and flexible individual; Good time‐management and organisation skills; Ability to prioritise and multitask.
